About Laurie

For over 25 years, artist Laurie Hansen has painted murals and other commissioned artwork throughout north metro Denver and beyond. She is honored to have her art displayed at the Adams County Justice Center, the Paul Derda Broomfield Recreation Center, the Louisville Recreation Center, and the Tenaker Pet Care facility in Aurora, Colorado.

Born and raised in northern Colorado, Laurie studied fine art at Colorado Women’s College in Denver and Commercial Art Continuing Studies at CU Boulder. Her style is as unique and varied as the people she paints for. She also makes use of her artistic talents at Shepherd of Love Fellowship in Broomfield where she assists in set/backdrop design for their annual theatrical productions.

Artists Statement

My adventure in art started early in life drawing with chalk on the sidewalk and coloring with crayons. As my interest in art grew, I began working in pencil then moved on to oils and acrylics. I eventually discovered the joy of working in watercolors, which lend themselves to the fresh, clean look I strive for in my work. Having been born and raised in Colorado, I’ve been provided with a cornucopia of visual inspiration! The galleries you see on this site are samplings of my favorite projects.

Picasso had it right when he said that the real purpose of art is to wash away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Chagall echoed this sentiment by saying that it’s an artist’s duty to keep awake the sense of wonder in the world.

The many things I see around me all reflect the heart of our Creator. My artistic endeavors are an expression of my heartfelt thanks to Him and His son, Jesus, who created “all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful…” I am very grateful for the opportunity to share the gift of artistry with others. It has been a pleasure to meet so many wonderful people along the way.

It’s my hope that you will experience both the washing away of the dust of life and the wonder of creation as you view my work. God bless!
